Watercolor has always called out to me because of its fluidity and impressionistic quality.

I was born in Beijing, China and grew up among the “HuTongs” - Beijing's characteristically narrow streets and alleyways - that have become the subjects of many of my paintings.

Today, I am a software engineer, living in Redmond, Washington. Wandering in and about Seattle's Pike Place Market, going to pottery studios, or driving to little towns on the ocean shore are among my weekend favorites.  They, too, are inspirations for my paintings.

I began to paint in the Spring of 2000, shortly after moving to Seattle. The watercolorists that I love the most, among many others, are Trevor Chamberlain, Alvaro Castagnet and Cecil Rice. Watercolor seems to gain a life of its own under their brushes, and makes the high-tech world in which I work appear to be relatively sterile in comparison. I do love programming, and I truly embrace what computers and the internet have brought for our generation. However, for me, painting is a different world, a different dream. I’m glad I’ve lived it and want to share it with you.
